This hybrid of H. longipes x H. pycnophylla was registered in 1998 by Peter Ruh of Ohio on behalf of the originator, Hajime Sugita of Japan. It grows into a large size hosta about 18 inches high by 32 inches wide. The medium green leaves are medium green, have purple-red petioles and are heavily rippled with good substance. In September, it bears medium purple flowers.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...ranks as one of the finest of the Sugita-Ruh hybrids."
