This H. 'Buckshaw Blue' seedling was registered by Peter and Jean Ruh of Ohio in 2005 on behalf of the originator, Roger and Ann Bowden of Devon, England . The medium to large size mound produces pale lavender flowers from July into August followed by viable seeds. This cultivar is part of the "Devon Series" of hostas.

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Slow to increase."
