England
and registered on their behalf by the
Registrar,
Gayle Hatley Alley for
The American Hosta Society in
2019. This cultivar has
H. 'Sieboldiana'
in its background but the exact parentage is
unknown. It is an upright growing, large size hosta about 24 inches
high by 62 inches wide with moderate yellowish-green (138A) foliage.
The leaves are broadly ovate, slightly convex cupping, moderate
corrugation and have a satin sheen on top. Near white flowers bloom
from late June into July on scapes about 34 inches tall followed by
viable seeds. This cultivar is part of the "Devon
Series" of hostas.
The registration
materials state: "...Very tightly packed clump of
numerous flowers top the tall scapes. Very fertile.."
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "Origin: H. 'Hadspen
Blue' hybrid.. .Slow to establish but eventually will become one
of the largest hostas...A superb background specimen or for a
woodland garden."
