Originated by
Unknown in England, this non-registered cultivar is a
sport of H. 'Frances Williams'. It is a large
size hosta about 22 inches high by 36 inches wide with
blue-green foliage that has a yellow marginal
variegation. The flowers are near white.
According to the
Mickfield Hostas website, "As this cultivar matures it
looks more like the parent only smaller in stature and
with more twisting to the leaves. Give this cultivar
plenty of shade as it is prone to scorching."
Derek
Cox was a long-time gardening broadcaster and nurseryman
in England. Also, "scorching" refers to spring
desiccation, a common problem of many 'Frances
Williams'-type hostas. |
