Hosta 'Chippewa'

This is one of those cases where there are two hostas with the same name. One is registered and, therefore, the "official" version of H. 'Chippewa' while the other is a non-registered plant whose name needs to be changed.

This sport of H. 'Frances Williams' was originated by Anne Arett and registered on her behalf in 1986 by The American Hosta Society. It forms a large size mound of blue-green foliage that has a light gold marginal variegation. Clusters of near-white flowers bloom from late June into July.

"Plant is similar to the parent plant but smaller. Variegation is reversed: center yellow, margin green."

This seedling selection is a non-registered cultivar which is part of the "American Indian Series" of hostas from Van Wade of Wade and Gatton Nursery (Closed 2019) of Ohio. It is a giant size plant growing to 36 inches in height with a spread of 60 inches. The blue-green foliage has deep veins, is slightly corrugated and wavy. Pale lavender flowers bloom from late July into August.
