This cultivar of unidentified background was originally registered as having originated by "Pacific Northwest" by Kevin Walek (Hosta Registrar) in 2009. It was re-registered in 2018 by the AHS to change originator, nominant and introducer to Unknown (USA).

'Checkerboard II' grows into a large size hosta about 22 inches in height with a spread of around 65 inches. The leaves are ovate to narrowly ovate, slightly rippled, slightly folded and dull on top with good substance. Pale lavender, tubular flowers bloom in July.
