This fast growing self-pollinated seedling of H. 'Holly's Honey' was registered by Dr. Ralph (Herb) and Dorothy Benedict of Michigan and Hideko Gowen of Minnesota in 1990. It is a H. ventricosa type hosta with bright purple, semi-bell shape flowers in July. The medium size (16 inches high by 34 inches wide) mound has rippled, shiny green leaves that have an upturned effect. It does not form seeds.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), this cultivar "...was the first hosta of note with upturned tips."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas (2009) states: "Vulnerable to pests but worth the extra effort to preserve the leaves intact since this is one of the best of the newer green-leaved hostas."
