This cultivar was listed on the
MyHostas Database
and
The American Hosta Society websites.
Originated by
Jan van den Top of the
Netherlands, this non-registered cultivar is a tetraploid sport of H. 'Exotic Treasure'.
It is a small size hosta about 10 to 12 inches tall with
dark green foliage that has a creamy white streaked
variegation. The petioles have red dots and the color
moves up into the base of the leaf. Purple flowers bloom
from August into September on red scapes.
The mother plant was
treated with a chemical to intentionally induce
tetraploid mutations. All genetic
layers are tetraploid, so hybridizing with
this hosta can produce tetraploid seedlings.
