slow growing
cultivar is of unidentified parentage (a seedling of an
unnamed seedling of
H. montana).
It is a small to medium size (12 inches high by 30
inches wide) with medium blue-green foliage that has a
yellow marginal variegation. The leaves are broadly
ovate, slightly cupped, slightly folded, moderately
corrugated and slightly shiny on top. Near white,
bell-shaped flowers with very pale lavender stripes
bloom in June on scapes 15 to 18 inches tall followed by
viable seeds.
The registration
materials state: "...Pointed, heart shaped leaves
exhibit strong contrasting spring colors. The bright
yellow margins cut deeply into the center in a
flame-like pattern...yellow margins turn white in the
summer."
