Hosta 'Blue River'

This sport of H. 'True Blue' was originated by Dr. David Reath and registered by Roy Klehm of Illinois in 1998. It forms a large size (15 inches high by 30 inches wide) mound of blue-green foliage with a narrow yellow marginal variegation. The leaves are slightly rippled, broadly ovate and shiny on top. It has near white flowers from mid-June to July.

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Not suitable for containers. Slow to moderate growth rate...Considerably smaller than its parent with a shiny upper leaf surface."
