Hosta 'Birchwood Green'

Florence Shaw of Massachusetts originated this cultivar as part of her "Birchwood" series and it was registered by The American Hosta Society on her behalf in 1986. It is a large size (24 inches high) mound of heavily corrugated foliage with dense clusters of near white flowers from late June into July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), it is "...same H. 'Sieboldiana' origin as 'Birchwood Elegance', probably a sibling...Eldren Minks once demonstrated the great substance of 'Birchwood Green' by balancing a coffee cup on one of its leaves."

The Genus Hosta by W. George Schmid (1991) says that this is the result of a cross of H. 'Sieboldiana' × H. 'FRW No. 382'
