Hosta 'Beaujolais Wine'

Originated by Dave Bowe of Ohio, this cultivar was registered in 2021 as a hosta of unidentified parentage. It is a small to medium size (12 inches high by 14 inches wide) hosta with yellow foliage. During the summer, the yellow lightens. The ovate leaves are flat and slightly shiny on top. Its petioles have red speckles which extend up into the midrib on the bottom side. It bears pale purple, tubular flowers in July and sets seeds but does not set seeds. There are purple stripes on the petals with white between the petals.

According to the Registration materials: "Small bright shiny yellow plant with very purple buds on dark purple scapes.  Variable blooming period as early as July 1, can have a second bloom in late August"
