This non-registered hostas was mentioned in the Hosta Heritage Lines website as a plant used in the breeding program of Jeff Moore of Wisconsin. It is a seedling of H. 'Red Eagle' × (H. 'Greased Pole' × H. 'Katsuragawa Beni'). 

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term beni as red or rouge and the the term -gawa or -kawa as river.
