Peter Ruh of Ohio registered this cultivar on behalf of the
originator,
Hajime Sugita of Japan in
1999
and modified in 2000. It is a hybrid of
H. kiyosumiensis x
H.
pycnophylla which grows into a large size hosta about
21 inches in height with a
width of 52 inches. The medium green foliage has deep veins with
an elliptic shape and petioles with a lavender-purple
coloration. Its leaf bottoms are whitish in color and this
cultivar blooms in August. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...continues to be one of my favorites of the Sugita-Ruh
series of hybrids."
