This
plant of unidentified parentage (H. 'Tokudama' background) was originated by
Dr. Charles Purtymun at
Walden West Nursery in Oregon
and registered
in 1986. It produces a dense rounded medium size (14 inches high) mound of foliage with
lavender flowers in July followed by viable seeds.
The Hostapedia by
Mark Zilis (2009) states "...a more deeply cupped version of
Blue Cadet'. Its flower
performance is also impressive."
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "Floriferous. A vigorous, moderately rapid
increaser. Ideal in a container or as an edging
plant...Spoon-shaped leaves give the plant a pinwheel effect
when seen from above. Leaves are bluer at the edges and greener
toward the midrib."
