This cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Urajiro
Hachijo' which was registered in 2010 by
Hugo Philips of Belgium. This small size (10 inches high by
16 inches wide) hosta has dark green foliage with a
light green medial (center) variegation. The leaves are
slightly rippled, ovate and have purple red striped
petioles. Pale purple flowers bloom from mid-July into
August.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term urajiro as white-backed or white underside.
