Rich red petioles distinguish
this seedling of H. 'Miss Susie' that was registered by
Arthur Wrede of Maryland in 2005. The fast growing medium
size plant reaches a height of about 12 inches and
spreads to 28 inches wide with ovate shaped leaves. Its foliage
starts the season bright gold in color but changes to light
green later. The leaves are ovate, slightly wavy and have faint
corrugation with purple-red petioles. Purple
flowers on crimson red scapes bloom from mid-July into August.
This was the hosta given to those who attended the
National Convention of
The
American Hosta Society in Philadelphia, PA in 2006.
