A
sport of H. 'Gold Standard', this cultivar was registered by
Kirk Brill of Iowa in 1999. Its broadly ovate leaves grow
into a large size hosta about 23 inches in height and
around 42 inches in width. Pale lavender blooms appear from mid-July
into August.
This is a 'Fortunei' type
hosta. It does not form seeds.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...differs from 'Gold
Standard'
in having a much wider dark green margin."
From the
Field Guide to Hostas by Mark Zilis (2014), "...certainly brought something new to the hosta world and
differed significantly from 'Striptease',...can be effective as
a specimen and in small groups..."
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "Vigorous, a fairly rapid increaser. Requires
regular division of the clump to keep the most pleasing
proportion between the leaf blade and margin...Differs from its
parent in having thicker leaves and a narrower central
variegation, and in holding its color better."
