Dr. Doug Beilstein of Ohio registered this
cultivar in 2007. It is a hybrid of H. 'Sea Drift' × H. venusta which will grow into a giant, 3 foot high upright
clump of heavily rippled foliage. It bears purple flowers in July and August.
The originator made the following comment on the
Fraternal Order
of
Seedy Fellows website: "Here it is, what the entire Buckeye nation has been waiting for
'Brutus'. This big time plant player covers wolverines with ease. Beautiful
purple flowers just above the flat large highly veined pie crusted leaves. Make
room in the garden for this one as the clump will go 5 feet at least. Available
2010."
