This hybrid of two unnamed
seedlings was registered by
Paul Aden of New York in
1976. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), it is "...very similar to 'Neat Splash Rim' and
'Yellow Splash Rim'".
This plant grows into a medium
size (15
inches high) mound with oblong-elliptic foliage that has a round
base. The leaves are slightly wavy and very shiny underneath.
Bright purple flowers bloom from late July into mid-August.
The Hostapedia by
Mark Zilis (2009) states that this cultivar "...used to be a common
sight in hosta collections, but it has declined in popularity in
recent years. It shows a strong similarity to
stable forms of 'Neat
Splash' and 'Yellow Splash'."
