Registered by

in 1986, this H. sieboldii 'Kabitan' seedling has a thin gold edge to the leaves. It is a medium size (12
inches high) plant
with thin
substance and the leaves may give a corrugated appearance as
they age. Purple flowers bloom in late August to September.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "This cultivar has a distinctive appearance and I
have always been able to easily identify it
in gardens without a
label. One of its unusual characteristics is having a 'Subcrocea' type
leaf with corrugation."
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states in its Hosta Hybrids for Connoisseurs chapter: "Shade
is essential as the leaves will scorch without it...Increases rapidly but is not
robust or easy to grow. The very thin leaves have heavy seersuckering. The tall,
pale chartreuse scapes contrast effectively with the violet flower buds...Has
much larger flowers than its parent."
